Blocked On Purpose

When God puts up some road blocks in your life, don't look at it no other way than your protection. Why? Because we as humans want to be connected and rightly we should be, but the thing is not everyone is qualified to be connected to you and you are NOT meant to be connected to just anything or anyone. Not everyone has the capacity to truly see who you really are and your God given gift. Instead, see it as God aligning you upwards for a purpose greater than what you can see, think, or even imagine. Remember, you are His light for those who WANT to see His purpose. There is someone watching and waiting for you to glow. There was a time in my life where I wanted and hungered to be connected to everyone that I came in contact with. I wanted everyone to see, know, and trust that I was for them and not against them. I wanted friendships to last forever and when that didn't happen, I was devastated. I remember a connection I had with a sister. I was for her as a friend. I was ...

You Were Created Just For It

We are well into the new year. We have made new strides, added new goals, and dumped the trash of things that no longer serve us. Yes, we are off and running.  Are you out of breath yet? Have you taken a pause wondering, what were you thinking? I am sure somewhere along the way, you have had a touch of doubt, frustration, and even aggravation. Don't you dare give up. You got this. I have to tell myself this at every turn of my day. Living with a chronic illness is exhausting. Striving to make a difference everyday is even more exhausting when you do not feel your best. Though I do not look like what I walk with, I keep bouncing. I often hear God whisper, do not grow weary in well doing. I have to pause and offer up praise because it is a reminder that He knows. God knows exactly how we feel even if we don't verbally express it. He knows. And with that, we must rise up to the occasion, square our shoulders and lift our heads up high, because we got it. This reminds me o...

Be Not Moved

Today, the world is experiencing another tragedy. Paris, France was shaken by multiple bombings with the killing of over 100 people. This latest event marks the worst this country has experienced in decades. Is it the last? No. Can Paris recover? Yes, and recover they will. Nowhere in God’s word does it tell us that we won’t face persecution, but to the contrary, it tells us that we will. The persecution that has taken place not only in Paris, but in the United States, Africa, in Europe just to name a few, should not be looked at as some fly by night event. No, we should be reminded that evil is everywhere and death follows evil. We must remember that our will and resolve will continuously be tested, and in that testing, our faith will be shaken. A test of wills, a test of the fight to stand naked amongst those whose soul desire is to annihilate and destroy the peace and freedom that so many of us have taken for granted. For those of us who read and study God’s word, this sad e...

Greater Strength

With the recent tragedy in Charleston, SC, I am sure millions are still processing how a young man or anyone for that matter can walk into a church and kill innocent people. It does not matter what their reason may be, it is just something we here in American have not fully experience.  Let’s continue to keep the families and the community in our prayers In third world countries the mass killings of Christians is known and felt, but not here in America. The media coverage is full of many stories where men, woman, and children are running for their lives all because they believe in Jesus Christ and profess their beliefs as Christians. My heart goes out to these families. I could not imagine this type of dreadful and horrendous persecution. Acts 9:1-2 in the New Living Translations says, Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest. He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in D...

New Mercies

I am refreshed in knowing that I serve a God who can do all things and knows all things. I am excited that I can lean on Him and He will comfort me, but the key is that I have to seek him. Because of Who God is, we receive His outpouring of love, grace, and mercy. He does not hold our faults and mistakes against us. He forgives us and washes us whiter than snow. It is like polishing silver or gold being set ablaze. When the process is finished, we shine. For the past 12 days, I have been participating in a 40-Day Surrender Fast, visit Surrenderfast.com for more information.  This is my second fast with the group and sadly this will be the last fast that Dr. Celeste Owens will be hosting.  Last year I was excited about this fast, but I realize now that I was not fully committed even though I listened to the prayer calls, I read my daily devotion, I even wrote in my journal, daily.  I was consumed by the issues of my life and my faith was on sand, quick sand....
