Drifting

On one of my walks a few weeks ago along the Ruston Way waterfront here in Tacoma, Washington I noticed a large amount of driftwood. The pictures that you see are a few that I took on that walk. I have never seen so much driftwood in this area, never. As I looked at each piece, it got me to thinking about the lives of so many. There were large, small, and odd looking pieces of wood tossed like a big wind had just came and blew them around and when that wind stopped, the wood landed.

This driftwood reminded of me of how so many people are going about their lives as if they know exactly where they will land. Now, in most cases with determined steps we can control some things and that is only due to the choices we make or don't make. At the end of the day we do not have any real control, only God does.  He allows things to happen in our lives to get our attention. To warn us of impeding dangers that can cause us to land on life's seashores unable to move.

As I looked at the different pieces of driftwood I noticed their forms. I noticed how many pieces had landed on top of other pieces. I noticed how large and long they were with notches and stains.  I noticed how sea life had attached themselves for the ride. Round and funny looking pieces. Reminds me of so many people with attachments on their backs, in their hearts, and minds. The baggage that we carry from one situation to the next. That baggage is holding us hostage and in bondage on the seashores of life. We have large dreams and a long way to go to reach those dreams. We have an even larger prideful ego because we feel that simply because we are moving, we know the steps. We don't for God says, He has ordered our steps. Just like that driftwood, we will be knocked off course.  We will be tossed to and fro. Guess what?, that driftwood can not get back on course on its own, but you can.

As you look at all of the things that you have set out to do, imagine a seashore filled with driftwood and remember that the driftwood will not move unless the tides come in and take it away or human hands physically remove them. As for you, you have an ability to move with ease into the flow of the currents called life and ride out the storm.  Have faith and believe that God is right there with you. Believe that you can do all things. Receive, believe and stop drifting.

Be Blessed.

Meet Barbara Joe Williams

My feature author this month is new to me. I have had the pleasure of reading many of her books and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed. I loved the twists and turns of her stories. Reading each book, I felt I knew each of her characters personally. The first book I had the pleasure of reading is titled, First Class Love. Growing up in a military town I could totally relate to the characters and the adversity they faced. At the end all I could do was cheer. Whoa! I rated this read a 5 star.

The last book that I read was, Holiday Hotel: A Sexy Short Story. Oh my goodness. Once I reached the end I was like, uh oh no there has got to be more. The look on my face was that of a deer in headlights.  Imagine it. Yes, it was just that good.  I rated it a 5 star.

Barbara Joe pens stories that relate to both male and female readers. Love, betrayal, intrigue and much more. Not only does she pen beautiful stories that catch you from the first word, she also pens valuable and knowledgeable information with her non-fiction work.
I encourage you to get your read on and be intrigued as I was. Without further delay, meet Barbara Joe Williams.

Here is a taste of Holiday Hotel: A Sexy Short Story
Janna and Waverly Jones have been married for fifteen years. When they set out on a holiday trip from Tallahassee, Florida, to Savannah, Georgia, an unexpected overnight stay at a hotel turns into a sexy scene on Christmas Eve. Will hotel sex be the best sex they’ve ever had or not?

I asked Barbara Joe a few questions and her is what she shared:
Why did you want to be a writer? I've always wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember, but I was always afraid to try. I kept talking myself out of it with negative self-talk. I still remember reading the romance novels that my mother had and wondering what it would be like to be a writer. I was content as a reader for forty years. Then one day following a mid-life crisis, I decided to walk past my fears and start writing a romance novel focused on a married couple. Since most of the romance books were about singles finding love and getting married, I decided to write about what happens next and that became my first novel titled, Forgive Us This Day. Now, then novels later, my only regret is that I didn't start writing sooner.
What do you enjoy most about connecting with your readers? I enjoy everything about connecting with readers because they give me so much inspiration and motivation to keep writing. One of the reasons that I didn't start writing sooner is because I kept telling myself that I would never finish a novel and if I did, no one would want to read it, or buy it. So the fact that people are actually buying my books, reading them, and enjoying them is the best thing that has ever happened to me professionally. When readers contact me or post positive reviews about my work, I feel such a sense of accomplishment and connection to them. I enjoy hearing about their personal lives as well as their professional experiences and accomplishments.

What two important pieces of advice would you give to those desiring to become a successful author? 1) I would tell anyone desiring to become a successful author that writing is a hobby, but publishing is a business. In other words, you're not just an author, you're an entrepreneur. It's time to learn all you can about the industry if you're planning to have a career as an author. And don't just depend on your publisher or other authors to educate you, do your own research.  2) Also, don't expect to become an overnight sensation. I see a lot of authors get discouraged after two months because they haven't sold 2,000 books, and they want to drop out of the business. But it takes time to build up a following of loyal readers. In fact, it may take a few years. If you're not in this occupation for the long haul, you're in the wrong business.
My next non-fiction eBook will be released on February titled, A-Z Marketing Tips: A Motivational Guide to Selling Your Products.  The next fiction eBook will be released on February 12, 2015 titled, Holiday Hotel 2: A Valentine’s Day Story.

Quality books all of the time for $2.99 or less. All books are available on Kindle and Nook. Go on and get your copy, you will be glad you did and I am sure that Barbara Joe will greatly appreciate you.

Answered Call

If I had not listened to the call of God, I would have taken my own life years ago. I had it in motion 80 miles an hour in a 25, down a hill that curved. Tears and devastation, off of the cliff I was headed. 30 foot drop into the ground. Oh yes I had a suicide spirit. Once. The motivator could not motivate herself.  I thought I couldn't take any more.

Most often we are the result of our choices. We don't take advice. We go from pillar to post and get mad because the new post looks exactly like the old pillar we just ran from. All the while lying saying we won't do it again. Stop and take inventory of where you are and learn the why. Why you made that choice. Why you didn't make that other choice. Take responsibility.

God sends a messenger and because the messenger is not saying what we want to hear, we ignore it. We got it figured out. NOT. God allows many things to take place in our lives to get our attention. Stop focusing on who wrote the Bible but more so focus on the message. It can save your life.

Hallelujah, I answered the call.

Be Determined

I am about 17 days late but, Happy New Year.  The past few weeks have been ruff but I made it back to share with you. How are you living? Have you pooped out yet? Or are you moving along gracefully on the path to your greatness? Keep running and don’t look back because nothing behind you matters. It is all ahead of you.

Don’t get caught up in what is going on around you. Don’t let your feelings dictate how you will live in this new season. Dust yourself off, get up, and get moving. Take action not prisoners. Live with passion because life is not what happens to you but more your reaction to what happens to you.

Getting  and gaining momentum is one thing but keeping it is a whole new animal. Many of us run on fumes. Our week days consist of the normal routines. Rush. Rush. Rush.  At the end of that week comes Friday and we are pumping our fists and saying, thank God it is Friday. Then, there is Saturday and Sunday that flew by as if someone pressed the fast forward button and boom, Monday is back.  It is time to do things different and if you don’t you will burn yourself out and the days will pass you by.

You have within you a gift and that gift is needed. You have seen many things and experienced much more and because of those experiences you can do great things.  Nothing that has happened to you was by chance. God has given you a divine assignment and He has also given you all that you need to carry out that assignment.  Nothing can stop you but you and nothing can stop Gods divine timing on your life.

As you go about making power moves remember that you can do all things in Christ. Not some things, a few things or even one thing, it is all things.

Get on up and make every move count.  Shoot for the moon and if you miss then you will be amongst the stars glowing and shining bright for all to see. You are needed.

Be Blessed
