Redefining The Fire

As I look back over the last year, I can say I have not done all of things I had set out to do. I have had idea after idea, started them and then fizzled out due to mental exhaustion and bankruptcy. One of my favorite author’s, Barbara Joe Williams wrote a Facebook post, something her mother had said to her. “If you have too many irons in the fire, you are bound to get burned”. Ouch!

I had many irons in the fire. I attempted to be superwoman in my attempts to write a book, plan a business venture, take care of my health, and be present for my family as best I could. Be all and do all. Burned and burned out. All of my efforts produced no fruit but a mired of annoying fruit flies. Swatting at the thoughts and desires in my heart. Slapping myself for not moving up the ladder of my goals, but falling off hitting the ground due to emotional frustrations, distractions, and the wavering of my faith.

As 2015 was coming to a close, I pressed pause and took a long hard look at my list of to-do’s and my life. I scrutinized every action and lack of action. As 2015 closed, so did the fire. Now that 2016 has rung, I have a new resolve if only mentally. A new flame if only visually. One burning iron at a time.  Jeremiah 29:11 in the NLT says this, “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give a future and a hope. Plans to prosper and not to harm you”. This scripture has powerful strength if we pay close attention and submit to His will. We must surrender our desires to the Lord and line up with Him in obedience for in that, He will grant us the desires of our hearts.

I now have a new resolve and a new flame. I will be selective of the irons I place on that flame. Though I have come to realize somethings and those realizations hurt my heart, I cannot be surprised for God is the great revealer of truths and it is up to us to pay attention and see things revealed as they are and not as we desire them to be. I relax in knowing and accepting many truths and because of those truths, I have to take in to account my participation and remove my hand. No longer living by, play the cards you were dealt no, I don’t have to settle for that hand and neither do you. Toss it back on the table and walk away.

My brothers and sisters, God is good and He has it all worked out. Every good thing comes from the Lord. Take some time to put your irons in proper prospective. Let some irons burn to a crisp. Put some water on some irons and focus on the priority of that which you desire to see come to fruition. I don’t know about you, but I am not dawning the cape of, “I can do everything at one time”. Just like a recipe for a cake has specific ingredients and proper heat to bake, we too must have specific steps we must take to reach our intended goal. Remember, gold has to go through the fire to come out pristine.
Be Blessed

Spectators Never Win

1 Corinthians 9:24-26 in the NLT Paul tells us, “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing”. I am reminded with every breath, the race I am running. I know that God has given me the vision and because He alone is omnipotent, having unlimited power, I have won, I just have to run. I may stumble and fall, I may get scratched up and bruised, but run I must.   An athlete does not go into a race with doubt and fear. They are not concerned with who is cheering them on. A runner cannot focus on the runner next to them thought they are aware that they are there. A runner is focused on the run, the finish line, and the score board that tells them if they have beaten a previous record for the win.   Being a runner on the track is the same as

Win The Race With Endurance

Today has been a good day. How many of you get up in the mornings and say this? Do you get up with anticipation and drive to do all that you can in peace, or do you get up dreading the day before it even starts? You have a choice to either be grateful or in torment.  After a great call with a friend I haven't seen or talked to in over 30 years until a few weeks ago spoke so much life and confirmation in to me today.  I was reminded about endurance and running the race that God has placed me in. This race is nothing about what I want, it's about what His will is for me and nothing more. You see, we have to surrender our will for His will because as you know, God's will is the platform in which we have been placed at the starting line to run and not faint or grow weary. We been called and hand picked for a time such as now. Its urgent and immediate. Are you running to it or from it?  The past few months have been challenging on many levels and with these challen

Celebration Of Life

Looking back over my life I can honestly say I did good shoot, I did better than good. Loosing my mother at 16 and me being a teenage mother I didn't crumble, crash and burn. Oh I did a zig when I should have made that zag. I believed too many lies and did not pay attention to the sirens warning me to run for the hills. I have made plenty of mistakes and many I wish I could go back and reverse, but God knew the plans he had for me because His word says that our steps are ordered. I have learned a lot about the psychological makeup of people including myself and that is why nothing surprises me anymore. I am not easily tricked up even though I may act like I don't see it, I do. I expect nothing and appreciate everything. Though I may be different, I celebrate my different because it and God has saved my life.  Bad choices and learned lessons. At 52 there are things that no longer matter as they did when I was young and impressionable. Looking back, all I can say is tha
